President’s Message

Brent

Please join me in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for the 94th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Seed Trade Association. Halifax has spectacular scenery and unique attractions and is the perfect setting for work and relaxation. Rhonda and I are pleased and excited to be your hosts for this important meeting.

2016 was an exciting year for CSTA with our Board of Directors, members and staff working proactively together to achieve our mission: To Foster Seed Industry Innovation and Trade. The July 2017 Annual Meeting will build on these successes with a robust program of plenary and committee sessions aimed to raise awareness of key issues such as seed synergy and regulatory modernization, intellectual property, new breeding techniques and more. You can expect an agenda that will leave you motivated to play a larger role in CSTA, and excited about the opportunities for success in the seed industry.

We have made sure to include plenty of time for celebration and relaxation. Our Annual Awards Luncheon will celebrate exceptional seed industry people and their innovative contributions. We are planning a full social program for your family – the CSTA annual golf tournament, the family fun night, and the children’s and companion’s programs will showcase Halifax’s exciting culture and natural beauty.

The conference hotel is located along the Halifax waterfront and just steps away from many fantastic restaurants and historical attractions.  We hope you will stay on after the meeting for an unforgettable family vacation. Meeting planning and agenda development is underway, so please check back for updates. We will also keep you informed through Trade Winds Weekly.  The Canadian Seed Growers Association will be holding their Annual meeting in Halifax later the same week, and we are excited to be co-hosting the Family Fun night with CSGA.

CSTA’s 94th Annual Meeting is an unparalleled opportunity to work together to achieve success for our members and our association. Make your plans now to join us in Halifax and we look forward to welcoming you there.
